ความจริงที่คนไทยไม่รู้ (banned in Thailand)

You'll notice from the title of this video which was posted on Youtube by ThaiPresident, that it's "banned" in Thailand. The question is why was it banned? Answer: Because it challenges the myth that the king of Thailand is "above politics" and is nothing more an apolitical monarch with no political power.

Thailand's 2006 military coup saw ex Prime Minister, thaksin shinawatra, removed from power and later put on trial for "corruption" and lese majeste. But, was Bhumibol Adulyadej forced to endorse the coup by the Thai army, or did he choose to endorse it?

Quote from the video: "Bhumibol's refusal to endorse the 1981 military coup (the April Fool's Day coup) and the 1985 (the Share Rebellion) ultimately led to the victory of forces loyal to the government", the video concludes that in 2006 "Bhumibol endorsed the coup and Thaksin was put on trial. Bhumibol overthrew the democratic government!"

So there you have it. Bhumibol's endorsement of military coups, ultimately leads to the downfall of democratic goverments in Thailand. On the rare occasions when the Thai king has refused to endorse a coup, the democratic goverment has held on to power.

The assertion by Thai royalists that king Bhumibol is "above politics" and "apolitical" is completely false. Bhumibol's endorsement of military coups, is critical to the outcome of any action taken by the Thai army against democratic governments. The king of Thailand has played a decisive role in Thai politics over the last 60 years. But to say so, is lese majeste, and carries a prison sentence of up 15 years.
