Changes to lese majeste law?

Thailand's new Prime Minister, Abhisit Vejjajiva, is not Thai. He was born in Newcastle, England. His first name means "privilege" in English, which is quite appropriate for an English toff who was educated at Oxford university.

Abhisit became Prime Minister by default as a result of the legal coup, which saw Thailand's legitimate leader being removed from office. So what do you imagine Abhisit said about lese majeste law? It's a good law, and it must stay.

Two months down the road, and with a campaign to abolish this law launched by Gile Ji Ungpakorn, Abhisit's tune has changed. Now he feels that changes are necessary, not "for foreigners" but "for fairness". That's right Mr privilege. Good video from stoplesemajeste.
